Live event scribe

James scribing live

Record content as your conference, workshop or meeting unfolds.

Scribing is a live, responsive capture of the conversation in a fast-moving environment.

I actively listen to and understand the conversation and make creative decisions on the go about how to best synthesise and present the ideas. After your event, I produce a digital asset for you to use and share.

What I bring:

  • I accurately record the nuances of the conversation, using the language of your participants

  • I keep the content creative and inventive while remaining faithful to the material

  • I balance information and entertainment to ensure the final picture is a useful summary for everyone.

AI in Education Summit

Live scribe, in person, paper on wall

The AI in Education Summit was a one-day invitation-only event in London that brought together 80 participants from across education, technology, the charitable sector and government.

Having James at our meeting not only allowed us to capture our discussion in an eye-catching way, it also created a buzz in the room that made everyone all the more engaged. James is a talented artist, a consummate professional and a thoroughly nice guy. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
— Timo Hannay, Founder of SchoolDash and Convener of the AI in Education Summit

Empire, Migration and Belonging symposium

Empire, Migration and Belonging - scribe from London event

James worked with us as a scribe at two symposiums held in Manchester and London as part of the EMB project, which explores young people’s encounters with the themes of Empire, migration, and belonging. Tasked with capturing the essence of complex and sensitive discussions involving 30 young people at each event, James demonstrated exceptional skill in synthesising diverse voices and ideas into a coherent and visually engaging narrative.

His live scribing added significant value to the events, helping participants feel heard and engaged, while also providing a powerful resource for follow-up outreach and research. James handled the challenges of fleeting conversations with professionalism, creativity, and care, and his thoughtful suggestions for improving future events have been invaluable.

We are thrilled with the final outputs and deeply grateful for James’s contributions to the project. We would be delighted to work with him again in the future.

The British Empire, Migration, and Belonging (EMB) research project is a collaboration between UCL, the Institute of Education and Oxford University’s Department of Education. Its aim is to “support teaching and learning about the history of the British Empire and its complex – often contested – legacies within British culture, politics and society today.”

As part of the project, young people aged 11-18 explored their encounters with the themes of empire, migration, and belonging, both within and beyond the classroom across two one-day symposiums in Manchester and London.

One of the highlights of James’s work was the way his live scribing enriched the experience for the young people. Seeing their ideas evolve into a tangible and dynamic visual representation in real time was both engaging and validating for them. This added a substantive dimension to the day’s activities, and the final images have been invaluable in our research follow-ups and outreach efforts.
